Legislative Assemblies play an important role in our system of governance because they undertake very crucial functions of oversight, representation and legislation at the County level. The Assemblies are the gatekeepers of public resources who represent the interest of the electorates and as such they ensure the peoples’ will is safeguarded.

Message from the county assembly clerk
The purpose of this website is to act as a link between the Assembly, the electorate and all stakeholders. It details the day to day activities of the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and Staff in ensuring that Nyeri County is well represented, necessary legislations are enacted, and oversight of the Executive is done accordingly. It thus conveys our vision of becoming an effective, efficient and transformative Assembly.

The County Assembly Committee on Health Services Chaired by Mweiga Ward MCA Hon. Njuguna Kawanjiku, today held a Consultative meeting with the Department of Medical Services and Public Health led by the CECM Dr. Joseph Kiragu to deliberate on critical issues affecting health service delivery within the County. 1. Recruitment of qualified Radiologists with the aim of ensuring that imaging services are available and accessible across all county health facilities mandated to offer such services.![]()

2. Equipping of Ruguruti Dispensary(Iria-ini Ward Othaya) ![]()
The committee sought clarification on measures taken to fully equip the Dispensary to enable it provide comprehensive health services. Discussions centered around the availability of medical equipment and infrastructure improvements to ensure residents enjoy their constitutional right to quality healthcare.![]()

The committee inquired about ongoing and future plans to enhance the welfare of Community Health Promoters within the County. The meeting emphasized the shared responsibility between the Assembly and the Executive in ensuring improved service delivery and health outcomes for all County Residents.

Discussions centered on the revenue generated from County-Managed hostels located opposite Ruring'u Stadium and explored strategies to enhance their contribution as key revenue-generating assets. Both the County Assembly and the Executive deliberated on practical measures to improve management, occupancy rates and overall service delivery.![]()

Additionally, emphasis was placed on the need for collaboration between the two arms of government to ensure that hostels are run efficiently and effectively as well as maintained to a standard that attracts and retains clientele, thereby increasing their revenue potential.
